A handmade copper water jug, hand-engraved by Turkish artisans with an Ottoman tughra (the sultan’s elegant calligraphic seal) framed by flowing floral arabesques. Finished with an ornate solid brass handle and made from thick 1 mm copper, it’s a striking centrepiece on the dining table, whether serving iced water, lemonade or şerbet, or simply displayed on a sideboard.

Care

• Hand wash with warm water and mild washing-up liquid; dry straight away
• Avoid soaking, the dishwasher and abrasive sponges
• Empty after use rather than leaving drinks standing overnight
• The copper outside develops a warm patina over time; polish with lemon and salt to restore the shine
